California Gothic

I hope Grant Wood would approve.  The basic idea was not new for us, but the techniques in that year were more refined.

Special attention was paid to tone and texture, to match the original as much as possible.

Jade's head was stretched, mine was not.  Burning shadows accented the wrinkles in my face.

     Christmas lights are easy:

Apply white paintbrush, 50% opacity, then pick a smaller brush and a primary color, paint the white spot. Pick a  smaller brush still, switch back  to white and paint the colored spot.  And so on. Then add thin lines for the wires.

Heighten highlights and darken shadows to increase contrast and saturation.

     The tag line read:

"Have an outrageously merry Christmas."
